Risking his life daily, he preached, wrote pamphlets explaining Catholic teachings, and engaged in dialogue with those who had fallen away from the Church. His humility and charity won over even the staunchest opponents, leading to the conversion of an estimated 72,000 souls.

As Bishop of Geneva, a position he held from 1602 until his death in 1622, Francis focused on pastoral care, education, and reforming the clergy. He founded the Visitation Order with Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, emphasizing a spirit of gentleness and humility.

In addition to external challenges, Francis grappled with personal trials, including physical ailments and the demands of his episcopal duties. The Miraculous Legacy of Saint Francis de Sales

Saint Francis de Sales passed away on December 28, 1622, in Lyon, France, but his influence did not end with his death. Ten years later, when his body was exhumed, it was found to be incorrupt, a sign of his sanctity. Pilgrimages to his relics began, and reports of healings and divine interventions abounded.

He was canonized by Pope Alexander VII in 1665 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1877 by Pope Pius IX. His writings remain a treasure trove of spiritual wisdom, and his feast day, January 24, is celebrated as an occasion to honor his profound contributions to the Church.
